The referee is the single biggest non-team variable in any cards market, and an underrated one in corners and fouls too. Our Referee Stats page tracks every official across 32 leagues by average booking points per game (yellow = 10, red = 25), with the underlying yellow and red counts so you can see whether a high number is driven by a couple of spicy fixtures or a genuinely whistle-happy pattern.
Use the table to set a baseline before backing a cards line. A referee averaging 35 or more booking points per game is officiating roughly three and a half yellow cards a match, and that number will be reflected in the price for over 4.5 or over 5.5 cards in most fixtures they take. An official at the lower end, 18 to 24 booking points, will give the Under side of the same market noticeably more room. The variance between officials within the same league is often larger than the variance between teams.
We only list referees who have officiated at least five matches this season, so the figures settle around a stable mean rather than reflecting a single noisy outing. Combine this page with our Card Stats page for a full read on a fixture's expected card profile.
