Read the booking-points column first. A side averaging 22 or more booking points per game is consistently picking up two yellows and the odd red, usually a combination of an aggressive press, a settled physical centre-back and a midfielder who likes to commit tactical fouls. Anything below 14 is a clean, technical side or, more often, one whose referee selection has run hot with whistle-shy officials.
